Thanksgiving, Squishy’s Way

November 25, 2011

I have some rather fond memories of eating the yummiest breakfasts (or so we were tricked into thinking) as a kid.  Even now, as an adult, I admit to craving scrambled eggs doused with Ketchup with Baked Beans and Corn, mixed together for breakfast.  Oh yes.  Weird and true.

Similarly, I grew up (a large chunk of my pre adolescence) believing that Grilled Spam, Canned Corn with Margarine, Boxed Cornbread spread with more Margarine, and Rice with Soy Sauce and even more Margarine was the stuff made of Grand Thanksgivings.

I actually paused to really remember this.  It puts a smile on my face.

Yesterday was hectic, as are most Thanksgiving in my household.  Mom and Dad invited over the elderly people from their church who have no family members to celebrate with.  Our plan of attack was for me, mom, and baby brother to pitch in to get dinner on the table at 3.  Mom (still battling the flu, didn’t feel well), baby bro, arrived home from college late, and everyone showed up at 2, lol.

So, in the end, it doesn’t matter if “I can’t believe it’s not Butter” or “Sorry I’m an hour early or late” come to your dinner table.  I got to spend it with the people I care about the most.

….and I have Turkey to last me all week!!!!
